Once upon a time, there lived an Emperor and an Empress who were very much in love with each other. So much so that they did everything together, from travelling and taking care of the poor to watching elephant and combat fights performed for the court.

Today, the Taj Mahal stands as Emperor Shah Jahan's monument of love to his wife, Mumtāz Mahal (also known as the Cradle of Excellence), and a homage to her life.
